Edera has been at the Hand of Help orphanage along with her brother Florin Catalin since 2009. They come from a disorganized family of eight siblings, with different fathers and a mother that has chosen begging as a way of life. Edera and Florin were placed into foster care and a professional social worker looked after them for three years. However, as the legal provisions at that time prevented the social worker to foster children after a certain age and due to the fact that Florin is suffering from congenital palmoplantar keratoderma, a disease inherited from his mother, she was no longer able to take care of them. As a result, the local authorities contacted Hand of Help, hoping that they would be able to find a home with us.
Edera has been with us ever since. Both children keep in touch with the social worker that used to take care of them and consider her like a mother. Moreover, Edera usually spends her holidays with her and her family, people that have received her with open arms and consider Edera as one of theirs. It is incredible how God works for the good of His children. She is currently in the fifth grade, plays the violin in our orchestra and loves arts and crafts. She is always involved in our center’s activities and loves to create various decorations and handmade objects.
