About Me
The family's children, Irina Elena, Dumitru Alexandru, Andreea, Iosif Stefan, and Maria Gabriela, touched the hearts of their village neighbors after their father lost a long battle with cancer. Immediately after burying her husband, the children's mother left her home and entrusted Irina, at only 12 years of age,
with caring and providing for her brothers and sisters.
The children lived on the neighbors' mercy and generosity for a month, eating whatever they could spare. The mother collected all the state allowance for the children and spent it on alcohol. When they were left with no electricity and the living environment became inhumane, they were forced to abandon

As the older siblings, Irina and Alexandru were always in contact with their mother throughout their stay at our orphanage and visited her during holidays. In 2018, she remarried, slowly working toward rebuilding a family environment that would be safe for her children to return to. She stopped consuming
alcohol and was determined to be a better example for her children.

The local social workers constantly monitored the mother's situation and decided that she could now offer a home to her children. After numerous visits and discussions, our team and all the other authorities involved facilitated Irina and Alexandru's return home to live with their mother. We helped them financially for six months, enabling an easy relocation and providing them with all the necessary resources to start their new journey together again.
After the older siblings left to live with their mother, Andreea also constantly expressed her desire to be with her mother. She spent her summer break with her, and we noticed a huge improvement in their family situation. Finally, after numerous legal steps and continuous monitoring, the court approved
Andreea's and her mother's petition to live together.

Andreea is thrilled to be home and help her mother around the house while continuing her studies. She has learned a lot during her years at Hand of Help and is grateful to be able to start a new chapter of her life in the care of her mother.
